    Meet Grendon

Background

Grendon had been kept in a wooden crate as a pet by a local police officer until he was rescued in April 2006 and remarkably was in reasonable condition, despite the squalid box he had been living in. Upon arriving at Nyaru Menteng, he soon made friends with the other orphans his age and his cheerful personality and zest for life spread throughout the group. This also made him a natural star of 'Orangutan Diary' which was being filmed by the BBC at the time. Having completed Orangutan Jungle School, Grendon was released back to the wild in December 2018!
